  6. Lunchtime scores at Americas Division 3:

Turks & Caicos Islands 189 all out in 41 overs
    Belize 30 for 1 after 8 overs

The winner of this game will be crowned Division 3 champions, and earn promotion to Division 2.
Loser of this game will end third.

Peru 136 all out in 32 overs
    Brasil 25 for 4 after 11 overs

This is a duel possibly for 4th and 5th places – should Peru win it will be a net run rate call.
Chile confirmed as runners up in 2nd place

  7. Just got back from the Belize v Turks and Caicos game, about 50 extras were given away by the Turks and Caicos bowlers, but in the end they still managed to win by 3 runs. Oh, the T&C’s actual score was 196. With this result they have been promoted to Americas Division 2, which will be played in April in Suriname.

Belize started their innings in an awful manner, and they were 4 wickets down before they had got to 50 runs, but a brilliant 5th wicket partnership kept them in the game.
That partnership eventually ended, and the game would come down to the wire.

They required 49 off 7 overs, and they were scoring boundaries as the T&C Islands kept on bowling wides. They fell short though, as they needed 5 off the last ball to win and only got a single.

Turks and Caicos 196 all out
    Belize 193/9 off 50 overs

Peru recorded their first international win, as they beat Brazil, who were bowled out for 83 I think, I overheard an ICC Americas official mention that.

Cheers for covering this tournament by the way, keep it up mate!

  8. Cheers for the update Rodrigo!

Incredible! I thought before yesterday’s round that Chile had things covered.

It seems like the tournament was evenly matched with Chile beating Turks & Caicos and Belize, Brasil beating Chile and Peru beating Brasil.

  10. What a tournament! Last ball of the match and even Chile could still have gone through. If only we had close finishes in every one-day tournament!

  12. Hi,
I’m a Zimbabwean living in El Salvador, and one of the people who have set up El Salvador Cricket. We have competed in 2 tri-nations tournament recently. The Central American Championship (Nov 2007, Mexico) and the Easter cup (March 2008, Nicaragua ). Came 3rd in Mexico & 2nd in Nicaragua.

We’re trying to develop cricket here & although progress has been steady its also been slow.

Would you be interested in helping us in any way? can you help us in any way? Is there anything you wnat from us that will help you, help us? (!)

We have – in both competitions, in all 4 games – put out a team whose majority component are nationals, something we notice our rivals haven’t.

    Thanks, Andrew
